The Sixth of the Sixth Meme - Rescued!

There's a Big New World Out Here, Kitty!

This Meme is fun! Soulbrush tagged me to go to my 6th picture folder and choose the 6th picture in the folder, post it and tell the story of the picture. It was a pleasant surprise to see that the 6th picture (the middle picture of the 5 shown here) is about a kitty rescue that took place in 2004!

This Kitty's Paws Are Like Velcro!
A stray momma cat brought her 3 kittens into our attic to live. We found out only because one of the kittens made it's way down the roof and onto the screen over the lanai where it sat and cried until we brought it down and reunited it with it's mom. Kitty number two also managed to get out to be with it's mom. But kitty number three remained in the attic and cried. And cried. And cried. There's no way the Mister and I can get into the attic without killing ourselves. Only a small area allows human beings to move about because of cathedral ceilings in many of the rooms of our house.
Animal rescue would not come out, and we didn't want to take a chance on a non-professional getting themselves stuck or injured. Lucky for us, a kind neighbor was on the board of directors for the Palm Harbor Fire Rescue. Due to a slow evening they agreed to come out to rescue the kitty.
The driver, (I cannot remember her name - maybe Lisa) was the smallest and therefore elected to attempt to find and rescue the kitty. The little cat was very elusive and managed to avoid capture for close to an hour. While Lisa was up there searching amid cobwebs she was kind enough to answer a few questions: Nope - no termites. Yep, there have been rodents up here - plus there's a skeleton of a mouse. Nope - doesn't look like they damaged anything.
Finally, after a long and arduous crawl through our attic, Lisa emerged with Kitty!
It's a Boy!
Kitty's luck continued, because Lisa's daughter wanted a cat - an orange and white cat specifically. After determining that the kitty didn't actually belong to anyone, Lisa and her new Kitty got in the big firetruck and drove off into the sunset. Well actually, not the sunset because it was already dark. But you get the picture.

Hey Firelady, Got Anything To Eat? Huh? Huh?

We happened to run into Lisa at the grocery store about a year later. She had pictures of the grown up version of Kitty who is very happy and living a good life with his adopted family.

Ooooh! I Get To Ride In The Big Firetruck!!!

Thank you Palm Harbor Fire Rescue!

So! That's the sixth picture in my 6th picture folder! The other part of the Meme is to choose 6 bloggers to do the 6th of 6 meme. Without further adieu I shall appoint:

Bella

Imerie

Tiffany

Cate

Petra Michelle

Martha

You are each tagged to 1) go to your photo folders, 2) post the 6th picture in the folder, 3) tell the story about the picture and then 4) tag 6 bloggers to do the same.

This Meme is fun!

This just in:

A Birthday!!!

Bibi , a Yankee in Belgrade, is celebrating her birthday tomorrow. Her special day is February 2nd, which coincidentally is Groundhog Day. My guess is you can avoid 6 additional weeks of winter and enjoy an early Spring by stopping over to wish Bibi a Happy Birthday. If you see your shadow, and opt not to pop over with birthday wishes you will - I'm just guessing here - have 6 more weeks of winter. It's up to you. I'm just sayin'.

Happy Birthday Bibi!

It is kind of fun seeing what people have hidden away in their picture files. Your story reminds me of the morning I went into the kitchen and could hear the cat meowing at me, but couldn't find him. Eventually, I spotted him up in the pecan tree looking in the window earnestly at me...like I could help him out. Eeeekkks! Good thing he finally decided he could get himself out of that tree cause otherwise he'd still be there.

Oh yeah, about the pita chips...I would save my pennies for those Stacy's chips you like so well. Mine were eatable. I followed the recipe exactly...except I substituted Weber Grill Seasoning for sea salt and I used chives instead of chervil...I thought since they were almost spelled the same they probably taste the same too. Maybe if I had stuck to the recipe....

Naw, really they were....okay....I'm going to look for that Stacy's chips myself.

Thank you everyone! Happy story with a happier ending. We were worried they'd be called out on an emergency, but they got to complete the rescue. Kitty's a happy cat now. Stevie - thanks for the pita report. I'm going to try making some this week and see what happens. I'll try a few at a time till I get it right or see that it won't work. I'll let you know!

What a nice story. How'd they get in your attic to begin with?

That's a cool story.
That being said, thanks for tagging me but I'll have to pass. I'm trying to keep my blog anon and posting a pic of myself or our friends might clash with that.
I'll post a picture though, just for you. I'll find something neutral to throw the stalkers off my scent.
