Valentine Karm-a-thon

Happy Valentine's Day my dear Bloggyfriends!

Blicky Kitty is having a Valentines Day Karm-a-thon today! Participants are to share special Valentines day memories, or do something nice for a special Valentine and post about it, or write a Valentines Day message to someone dear to them.

.
I spent some time this week trying to come up with a Valentines Day memory to share with you, but it seems that during my dating years most guys would break up with me just before major holidays - including Valentine's Day to avoid gift giving and or commitment of any kind. I thought it was just me, but found out later that this is a pretty universal thing.
.

I did get flowers once, yellow roses. The guy was a jerk. I dated him for a while if you want to call it that. I don't know what possessed him to send flowers, but it was really cool having the delivery flower truck pull up in front of the house.

.
In grade school we decorated shoe boxes with openings in the top for Valentines from our school friends. Writing out all those cards was almost like homework. Mary Jo always got more Valentines than I did.
.

No special memories to share - pretty boring stuff. In retaliation, I thought I'd give you a Valentine pop quiz. This is going to count for 25% of your grade this semester. No pressure though.
The answers are true or false.
.
You may pick up your pencils now:

.
1) I become more irritated when people on television say Valetimes Day than I do when they say expecially and excetera.
.
2) A recent discovery indicates that the people of the SW United States have been drinking chocolate for about 1000 –1125 years

Cuppa hot chocolate anyone?

.

3) Nothing is known of St. Valentine other than his name and where he is buried.
.

4) Chaucer designated mid February as the time to celebrate Valentines Day with this verse:

For this was on seynt Volantynys day Whan euery bryd comyth there to chese his mate.

.
5) Valentines Day is mentioned in Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

6) Valentine’s Day falls just behind Christmas as a greeting card holiday.

.
7) The present day version of candy hearts, called Conversation Sweethearts were first sold in 1952

.
You may put your pencils down now, I'll post the correct answers on Monday.

Happy Valentines Day Musey!!! Thanks for the flowers, the hot chocolate, the candy, and the trivia. Does people saying 'Valentimes' day bother you more than nukular? Irregardless? and "I'm axing you a question!"???

Cuz Musey, I AM axing you a question here !! And the question is, who set the fire? ANd how did you know about the recently begotten signatures? And last but not least, was that *really* a fireproof safe? You told me you would send me the answer in code on a postcard from Bali but that was six months ago and I'm still waiting....

Valentime's is only cute if you're under the age of 5. :)

Yes, people who butcher words do bother me! How those who say Wal-Mark and K-Mark? As to your other questions, I'm opting out of the test...I ain't got nothin to prove to all youse.

Happy Valentine's Day. If your honey tried to kiss ya ask him to give you one for me too...since I ain't got me a honey of my own today.

Stevie - I'll take care of that with the Mister AFTER he showers. Happy to share!

Livvy - you didn't get my coded message? It was E-thay OOls-jay are-ay Afe-say. Lemme axe you a question - how is it you sailed to Casablanca without wiring me first? How did you sail there at all? It's been landlocked ever since your Le Avalanche experiment at rug dealer Ali Rabat's warehouse.

Moochy, talk about an experiement gone wrong. I vehemently assert that I was *assured* that those fibres were harmless silk! No one said anything about sives-explo ic-plast! If they had I never would have ordered the cherries Flambee! What do you think, its fun getting my eyebrows scorched off?!?! Didn't we learn our painful lesson from that bonfire at the picnic last summer? I'm still running from Smoky the Bear!!

Debby said...

What the heck?!!!! A test?!!!!! I didn't even study!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Blicky, your Kar-ma-thon was a great idea. I couldn't participate, but thanks.

Sorry I left you guys in the lurch over here - I was over at Blickys enjoying strawberries and hot toddys. hic.

Livy - next time you ask me to pick up some explos...I mean "bread" at Acme's Detonations R Us remember I buy in pounds which explains the singed eyebrows. Ever so sorry. What is it you use kilowatts or something???

Lavinia said...

Musey, I'm told its an imported brand of toothpaste as I hand over a crisp thousand-dollar bill. The proprieter of the 'shop' doesn't like questions. As in not asking them and not answering them. I simply pay for the toiletry and I leave. No, the fact that I am frisked upon entering and upon leaving does not rouse my suspicions any. Would it yours?

MuseSwings said...

Of course not! I get frisked going in and out of Starbucks now that they know I hang out with you. But that's neither here nor there whatever that means. What does that mean? Neither here nor there

MuseSwings said...

Margaret Ann and Ragamuffin - Chocolates! Thank you so much! Happy Valentine's Day!

Lavinia said...

Musey, is it really neither here nor there? Be that as it may, I'm still not prepared to spill the beans. If I did, it'd knock your eye out. But the lip is zipped. I didn't just fall off the turnip truck, ya know. I've been around the block a few times and have no intention of getting stuck up a gum tree. So there.

MuseSwings said...

I think the checkens have come home to roost Liv.
