This is where it all started. Ferndale. Land of the "cruisin' Woodward" class of 1963
This is where our high school years ended. St. James High School. Okay, this is the church. Can't see the high school from here. It's off camera. To the left.
Forty-eight years later the Florida contingent of displaced grads plus one Alabama grad ended up here at the Dakotah Winery in Chiefland, Florida to share fond, fonder and fondest memories over a glass of sherry, port, burgundy, ...etc. This, after a delicious lunch at the festive Fanning Springs Lighthouse Restaurant

Sound of Music Sing along: " we are 60's going on 70's..."
Look, ya'll got here by driving north, right? - you'll only get back home if you drive south. That's it. Logic at it's best. End of story.
John, if you order the Osso Bucco you will get nothing on your plate. Zero. Nada. It ain't happening. This is NOT an Italian restaurant. Get the all-you-can-eat mullet, swamp cabbage, grits and hushpuppy special like everyone else. Where's your redneck? And quit asking for "pop"
Chardonnay - check! Port - check! Noble Red - check! Cream sherry - check! Oh heck. just box up the lot of them and don't forget my senior discount.
By 3:30 we were getting dangerously close to missing the early-bird dinner at our respective local Denny's, so off we went. (SOUTH!) into the sunset. We promise to meet up again soon. We're just not sure if we'll meet at Lee-Roy's Bull Ridin' Lessons or Slim Spatchula's Sky Diving for Seniors. It's going to be one or the other.

From the black and white past to the colour of present day. A fun trip. Cheers.
A very happy reunion and lots of nice memories and tease. Great photos from the sixties.
Love your comments on all the pics.
Very fun post. I too love the old cars. Nothing like a school reunion for a fun fun time.

Love the bar pictures! what are those big blue glasses for?
My father would look at that card and be able to name all the brands and models of cars. Cool.
Time flies, and it's tough to accept that...:)
A recipe against boredom is to live an active life, like in the Norfolk Island. :)
I feel like I just watched American Graffiti. Still cruisin' and got the pedal to the metal.
The memories brought back by a postcard! That's what it's all about.
LoL...Love this! It's so nice to see friends back together again. And although I'm all the way here in Calif. we have more in common than you might think! My husband works for Bronko Winnery (burp) I too graduated from a St.school, St.Marys, and I live outside of Modesto, Calif. Where the movie "American Graffiti" oraginated from, also George Lucos, the man who wrote it. Amazing huh?!___=^..^=___Kittie
I love the way the old image almost acts as a slingshot out of which spins a delightful story and some modern pictures. Photography can compress time like nothing else.
Pure and utter delight ... all of it!!!
How fun! I bet it was great to see each other again!
A great post, how times change but we still feel the same inside! Wonderful photos.
I've been driven up (or down) Woodward many times on the way to stay with my daughter. Nothing looks as interesting as this shot of yours.
I started laughing with the "get a room comment" and had a smile on my face all the way through. What a heartwarming and fun reunion. You still have great hair.
You made me laugh today. My reunions are never as much fun as all of that!
I always enjoy looking to a postcard that shows old place. Makes me wish I was born that late. :)
Joining PFF for the first time and I'm late! :)
Postcard Friendship Friday#1
Love those old cars.
What a fun post. It looks like you enjoyed yourselves! And I love the street photo. It's always fun to see what places used to look like.
... well... hangin' with the "seniors" looks like a lot of FUN!
Love the 9 Mile and Woodward. Busy place!
I love your running commentary. I felt like I was at the next table over, peeking at a group of friends having a great time!
looks like you all had a swell time.
:)~

Glad to see that you still manage to meet up despite both the years and the miles taking you in different directions.
How fun to have a reunion away far away from the scene! We are stuggling with what will be out 50th next year in PA, Those who still live there have not a clue and those of us who have moved far away, have different ideas too... We need to meet elsewhere and taste wine! I love this. We are class of 62.
Great post, loved your comments for each picture! Makes me think I should attend my reunion, who knew they could be this fun :)
Cute and sweet!
great post.Esp. love last picture, reminds me of Mayberry! Where's Andy?
God Bless,
Julie
I just know I have seen this weeks back and commented, but not seeing my comment, here I go. You are one year behind me but I doubt our class of 62 will have anymore fun than your group of FL grads show in this post. We are at work for our 50th next year. Such a long time ago!
Whoa..I was born in Michigan and don't really recall this town, (slightly heard of the name) but I'll have to google it...I find the photo of the downtown so very cool...for that time back then I can't even think of a city that would have that many lanes...very impressive and what a grand collection of what appears to be a very happy life then and now! Very awesome post, thanks!
You've clearly got some great friends and great memories there...
