Sepia Saturday - Delphine

Welcome to Sepia Saturday! I've always treasured this exquisite picture of my mother, Delphine, at the time of her First Holy Communion. This was about 1929 when she was seven years old. I love her relaxed pose and serene face framed by the beautiful handmade veil caught at the sides with tiny be-ribboned bouquets.

The photographer obviously treasured this picture as well - he used it on his postcard advertisements!

I can see why the photographer would want to use the picture. It makes a great Sepia Saturday post.

(by the way, I think the link from the Sepia Saturday Blog is a false one - it took me to a dead end.)

Terrific picture! Your mom does look serene—that is the exact word.

I have to tell you the image for Sepia Saturday catches me offguard every time as the "SEPIA" is so-placed as to give the impression of a moustache, don't you think?

Alan - thanks for stopping by! I checked the link and it appears to be working properly - it goes to: http://sepiasaturday.blogspot.com/

Kat - it's a play on the "Got milk?" moustache. Poor girl in the picture... what have I've done to her.

What a treasure! I have a snapshot of my mama in her First Communion veil. I am trying to decide what to do with it--artsily speaking!

Beautiful name to go along with a beautiful lady, indeed. And I gather you're right the photographer was smitten!

Followed you over from my blog as your link would load up from the Sepia one... :^[

This is a great photo and the postcard adds the extra provenance. Your Mother looked so beautiful and her whole outfit is exquisite...from her veil to her darling shoes.
